PETG-CF

Carbon fiber reinforced for lightweight structural parts.

Order in PETG-CF
PETG-CF 3D printing material

Overview

PETG-CF is PETG infused with chopped carbon fibre strands. The carbon fibre reinforcement dramatically increases stiffness and dimensional stability while keeping weight low. This makes it an excellent choice for structural brackets, jigs, and any part where deflection under load is unacceptable.

Advantages & Limitations

Advantages

  • Very high stiffness-to-weight ratio
  • Excellent dimensional stability - minimal creep under sustained load
  • Electrically conductive (slightly)
  • Attractive matte dark surface finish

Limitations

  • Abrasive - requires hardened steel or ruby nozzle
  • Limited to black or very dark colours

Applications

Structural bracketsDrone framesRobotic armsTooling fixturesCamera mountsAerospace prototypes

Printing Tips

PETG-CF requires a hardened steel nozzle (minimum 0.4 mm, preferably 0.6 mm). Print at 240–250 °C with a bed at 70–85 °C. Do not use brass nozzles - the carbon fibres will wear through them within hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PETG-CF stronger than standard PETG?
PETG-CF is significantly stiffer (4× higher flexural modulus) than standard PETG. However, it has lower elongation at break - it is more rigid but less tough (more likely to snap under sudden impact vs bend).
